Happy Chanukah and Holiday Soundtracks
Thursday November 29, 2018 / New & NewsHanukkah is a major Jewish holiday known as the Festival of Dedication, as well as the Festival of Lights, and commemorates the re-dedication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem by the Maccabees. The holiday is celebrated annually for 8 days and nights, usually between late November and late December.
The soundtrack in our clip above uses typical Chanukah instruments such as an accordian, clarinet, fiddle, upright bass and drums. An organ is another classic instrument used in Chanukah and holiday music of all types. These instruments give the music a more traditional feel that is evokes a feeling of heritage and good cheer.
There are a lot of films with Hanukkah as a backdrop that we really enjoy. "An American Tail" is a 1984 animated musical starring Fievel Mouskewitz, a Russian mouse emigrant, and has many great songs such as, "There Are No Cats In America".
'Little Fockers' starring Robert de Niro and Ben Stiller was a smash hit in 2010 and blended the holidays of Hanukkah and Christmas together to hilarious results. The soundtrack was composed by Stephen Trask who does wonderful work in this movie blending holiday musical concepts with a modern comedic soundtrack.
